Darlene MacDonald of Judique, Cape Breton, has spruced up her home of 30 years with more than a coat of paint. She discovered HomeWarming, a program jointly funded by the province and Nova Scotia Power. HomeWarming covered the cost of
adding insulation. Ms. MacDonald says she’s pleased to have the upgrades done and with the comfort and security she now has.
This winter, more homeowners are enjoying a warm, comfortable home and saving money on their heating bills by making energy efficiency upgrades. In 2017-2018, almost twenty-three-hundred homeowners qualified to receive upgrades through HomeWarming. Energy and Mines Minister Derek Mombourquette says the past year was another good one of helping families save money on their home heating bills year after year.
It’s important that people living on lower incomes benefit from energy efficiency and feel comfortable at home. HouseWarming offers a no-charge energy assessment and potential upgrades to income-qualified homeowners. If they discover that draft-proofing, insulation or other efficiency options can help make heating & cooling your home substantially more affordable and comfortable, they’ll install the upgrades at no cost to you. They will even coordinate the retrofits. CAN YOU APPLY? Information can be found on the HomeWarming website at http://homewarming.ca/
